Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Loving Arms Learning Center has discovered a wonderful opportunity to provide a free book each month from birth to 5 years of age for EVERY child born in Geary County and we would like to ask you to help us bring this program to our area!

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library was established in 1995 in Dolly's hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee, and based on her belief that all pre-school children should have their own library of books. This first effort was such a success that the decision was made to offer the same program to ANY community that would support it.

Each month, from the day the child is born until his/her 5th birthday, a carefully selected book arrives at the mailbox. The books are clear-wrapped so the colorful covers can readily be seen and the label is addressed to the child so they are receiving their VERY OWN MAIL. Titles vary from year to year and are age appropriate in content and skills. Educators have emphasized the fact that READING with your preschool child is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITY TO PREPARE YOUR CHILD FOR SCHOOL. This program guarantees access to books by putting them directly in the home and inspires parents to read to their children as much as possible through the direct presence of the books.

Local requirements include having a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization agree to be the local “Champion” and handle the administrative functions of the program. Loving Arms Learning Center has agreed to accept this responsibility. Local Sponsors agree to cover the shipping and handling costs, and the Imagination Library covers the rest including book purchase and the actual packing, labeling and shipping of the books!
