Program Director
Tyronica Burks, Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE)
I have been employed at Loving Arms since 1999 and have had the opportunity to work in every facet of the facility. During that time I earned my Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Directors License and became endorsed through the Counsel for Professional Recognition as a CDA Advisor.
In December of 2007 I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Family Life and Community Services from Kansas State University. At that same university I graduated with a Certification in Conflict Resolution in December of 2008. In October of 2009 I received a Certified Family Life Educator Certification (CFLE) as a part of my commitment to furthering the cause of quality education for children and families. In July of 2010 I received six facilitator certifications from the Active Relationships Center in the following areas; Active Military Life & Resiliency Skills, Active Relationship for Young Adults, Active Choices, Active Marriage, Active Families and Active Adults. I am currently working on a certification in Financial Planning through Boston University.
I have been a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 2002 and a member of the National Council of Family Relations (NCRF) since 2007. I am currently building educational curriculum that will help increase the quality of childcare and adult educational programs, parental awareness, home schooling and will help stimulate school readiness in young children. Several of these programs have been approved for in service training hours for childcare providers through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Some have already been taught in a variety of community and workshop settings. Those programs are as follows:
- The Importance of Reading: A course for Parents of Preschoolers
- Volunteer/Intern Program - Currently working with Child Growth and Develop Classes 1 and 2 from USD 475 Junction City Kansas Senior High School
- Quality Childcare On A Shoestring Budget
- Techniques and Skills to Help Diffuse Challenging Behaviors Before During and After Military Deployments
- An Essential Guide to Curriculum and Lesson Planning
During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family & friends. I also enjoy exercising, making arts and crafts, reading books and magazines and watching movies.
