In 1994, LaFarris Risby was a single, working mother looking for affordable child care. Not finding what she was looking for, she took matters into her own hands and started Loving Arms as a licensed day care in her home. Loving Arms Child Care and Preschool grew from there.

Flint Hills Leadership Program – 2010-2011
LaFarris Risby is chair of the Flint Hills Leadership Program for the 2010-2011 year. The objective of the program is to identify and involve people in the area who have demonstrated leadership potential.

White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group – Jan. 2010
Loving Arms Daycare provided consultation to an existing childcare center on possible expansion into a different facility. This would include not only a building renovation, but also a program expansion. Topics of discussion included writing a business plan, writing policies and procedures, developing start-up and operational budgets, market feasibility, procuring a loan and facility renovation. Time was devoted to reviewing the existing business plan, reading operational policies and evaluating budgets.
